This is a new stat that can spawn on '''[https://i.gyazo.com/fa2ec022e9eeb6d2c67299c3331b8c06.png magic jewels]''' and rare jewels.  It will add additional splash damage to all single-target damage melee attacks in a cone-shaped area of effect around the attacked enemy. This helps melee builds viable as they will no longer be required to finish every individual monster within a pack.  See below for FAQ: <br />

A jewel with the Brute's prefix which grants Melee attacks deal splash damage.

Splash Damage

Splash damage deals damage in a cone-shape in front of the character. Only a successful melee attack on an enemy can trigger the splash effect. By increasing the area of effect (AoE) of melee attacks, this item goes some way to balancing the clear speed gap between caster and melee builds.

Additional Information

Melee Splash damage is the same as your Normal Attack tooltip damage. Therefore, to view your melee splash damage, switch to Normal Attack on your left or right click skill and open your character sheet. Just like Normal Attack, splash damage is not affected by the triggering attack skills such a Sacrifice, Concentrate, Jab, etc. This is also true of attack rating bonuses on triggering attack skills. Here's an example of what affects the damage:

Affects Normal Attack skill & Melee Splash Doesn't affect Normal Attack & Melee Splash
Auras like Might & Concentration Sacrifice skill's +200% Damage/+25% Attack Rating
Damage on gear like charms, gloves, runes, gems etc Zeal skill's +10% Damage/+25% Attack Rating
Weapons' damage & Enhanced Damage% on Armors Jab skill's +30% Damage/+40% Attack Rating
Passives like Barbarian masteries & Lycanthropy Double Swing skill's +1% Damage/+15% Attack Rating
Buffs like Enchant/Holy Fire's +Fire Damage to Attacks & Maul Fire Claws skill's +15-20 Fire Damage/+50% Attack Rating
  • Bonuses to attack rating from the triggering attack skills such as Sacrifice or Concentrate don't apply to splash. It has the same attack rating as Normal Attack skill, just like damage.
  • Chance to hit enemies by splash damage is calculated for each monster individually, according to the standard formula.
  • On-Striking and On-Kill CTCs can trigger from splash damage.
  • Despite Whirlwind now being able to trigger CTC stats, melee splash has been specifically disabled on Whirlwind.
  • Melee Splash is considered 'ranged' damage and is therefore affected by ranged penalties & bonuses, e.g.: Crushing Blow, Life on Ranged Hit, etc.
  • The splash has 2 frames of Next Hit Delay.
