This is a new stat that can spawn on '''[https://i.gyazo.com/fa2ec022e9eeb6d2c67299c3331b8c06.png magic jewels]''' and rare jewels.  It will add additional splash damage to all single-target damage melee attacks in a cone-shaped area of effect around the attacked enemy.  This helps make melee builds viable as they will no longer be required to finish every individual monster within a pack.  See below for FAQ: <br />

A jewel with the 'Brute's' affix "melee attacks deal splash damage". Melee splash jewel

What is Splash Damage?

Splash damage adds damage in a cone-shaped area around the targeted enemy. If the initial target is missed, a separate chance-to-hit is then calculated for each monster within the cone. By increasing the area of effect (AoE) of melee attacks, this item goes some way to balancing the clear speed between caster and melee builds.
